As today is World Book Day our learning for English has been linked to the book The Day the Crayons Quit By Oliver Jeffers.

After listening to the story the children wrote letters back to the crayons from Duncan.

Today we began our new unit – Letters. To start this off we heard the story of Mr Postmouse’s Rounds. The children used stem sentences to answer some questions about the story.

For the second day of our writing week the children began writing their beginning to their stories. They did a super job remembering Capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and the conjunctions that we practiced last week ‘and’ and ‘because’

This week in our English lessons we will be writing a traditional tale. Today the children have worked very hard planning an alternative version of The Little Red Hen.

Super English work today – the children continued with their work using the conjunction ‘because’ to givw more information in their sentences.

Today in our English lesson we listened to the story of The House that Jack Built and then the children wrote some sentences about Jack’s house. They used capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

In English today the children created cunning characters to use in a traditional tale.

In English today the children compared the oral story of Chicken Licken to an online animated story of Chicken Licken.

In English today we have been talking about the features of a Traditional tale and answering some inference questions.

In English today we have begun our Unit on Traditional Tales. Today the children heard the story of Chicken Licken and answered some questions about the story using stem sentences.
